Get ready for warmer weather! It’s the start of the next season. Spring is often associated with sunny days, beautiful flowers, and fresh fruit. Perhaps it’s due to the delicious fruits that are harvested each year. Spring is a great time to get yourself acquainted with any fruits you missed during winter – especially stone fruits! Who knows, maybe you’ll try one you’ve never heard of and it’ll become a new favorite.

When fruit is eaten out of season, it can taste less flavorful than it normally tastes during its harvest.

That’s why Corporate Essentials works with a local distributor for the fruit we sell. They’re experts in the field of “produce distribution”; in other words, they understand what separates good fruit from the best fruit. When it comes to finding choices that contain the health benefits you need, you want the best available. Trust us, there are plenty of reasons why prioritizing healthy snacks in the workplace is a good idea.

Corporate Essentials offers many healthy options to choose from year-round, but our customers deserve the best when it comes to fresh fruit. Below is a short look at the stone fruits we offer that are included in the spring harvest. The cream of the crop, if you will.

What’s a Stone Fruit?

Simply put, a stone fruit is any fruit that has a pit at its center. Just like regular fruits, stone fruits are host to a number of health benefits, many of which are shared among different types.

apricotApricot, Why Not?

The apricot contains a high amount of fiber, which means it can be used to treat indigestion and constipation. In addition to this, its numerous vitamins and minerals can improve heart health, reduce cholesterol levels, and improve metabolism.

One of the best things about fruit is that they can be eaten in a number of ways, and the apricot is no exception. Eat it as-is, dried, or prepare it into a juice or jam.

Corporate Essentials will have apricots back on sale around the beginning of May, so keep an eye out if you’re interested in restocking.

Cherry

With a Cherry on Top

There’s a reason ice cream sundaes are often portrayed with a cherry on top – it’s a unique visual flair. But appearances aren’t everything, as it’s also a tasty fruit that can be enjoyed on its own.

There are a handful of different types of cherries, each with its own unique flavor. These include Bing cherries, which can lower high blood pressure as well as reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Other types of cherries include Rainier cherries, Queen (Royal) Ann, Montmorency and Morello cherries. Eating these can provide protection against the risk of diabetes.

This fruit will be back in stock around the beginning of May.

NectarineNectarines – a Low Carb Addition

Also known as a peach’s sibling, nectarines offer multiple potential health benefits. These include the ability to lower blood sugar and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and obesity. A medium-sized nectarine contains about 14 grams of carbohydrates, making it a great addition to low-carb diets.

Nectarines will be available near the end of May.

PeachYou’re Such a Peach!

Peaches offer similar health benefits to that of nectarines. They’re so similar, in fact, that the two share a nearly identical genetic makeup and nutritional profile. The skin and taste of each fruit are different, if only slightly, but the benefits of eating them remain similar.

Peaches will be available near the end of May.

plDon’t Forget About Plums

There are over 2000 varieties of plums, but for the sake of simplicity, we won’t list their names here. Each of them contains a bunch of health benefits similar to the fruit mentioned earlier. Some of these include obesity and diabetes prevention, digestive aid and retaining cognitive functions in old age. This fruit is really forward-thinking!

Plums will be available around the beginning of June.

In addition to tasting good, stone fruits contain numerous health benefits that shouldn’t be overlooked. That’s why Corporate Essentials and our local distributors are determined to provide the best fruit possible. Don’t miss out on providing your workplace with healthy options that your coworkers will love! That’s what keeps you the “Office Hero”!
