Obviously when your friends, colleagues or competitors ask, “Who has the best office coffee in New York City?” your answer should be, “We do!”

But some days, you need to find fresh perspective, meet a client on neutral ground or just go on a scouting mission for something new and amazing – those are the days that NYC’s amazing coffee culture and cafes can truly shine. Today the team here at Corporate Essentials is taking you on a quick whistle-stop tour of some of the city’s best coffee stops.

Abraço

86 E. Seventh St., New York, NY 10003

A delicious destination café for coffee lovers and those who enjoy fresh baked treats, Abraço is a gem in the East Village. Though the café nestled in a tiny pocket-sized shop has little in the way of open space, their drip coffee is allegedly Manhattan’s best, and the olive oil cake is something to remember. Even the best office coffee might not be the same once you have spent a little time at Abraço.

Devoción

69 Grand St., Brooklyn, NY 11249

If you have the time to linger, there are few places better than Brooklyn’s new coffee magnet, Devoción. Light and airy, Devoción is not merely a café, but rather a roasting outpost for a premier grower in Bogota, Columbia. Beans are express shipped, arriving within 10 days of being picked, which as the best office coffee experts know, makes the coffee about as fresh as it could possibly be.

Third Rail Coffee

240 Sullivan St., New York, NY 10012

Another tiny café, this time near NYU, Third Rail offers single-origin pour overs from Portland, Oregon’s legendary Stumptown. A communal feel thanks to bench seating, staff who understand the importance and beauty of the coffees they are presenting and a wicked cold-brew offering make this a great alternative to your typical office coffee on a sunny afternoon.

Pushcart Coffee

399 W. 25th St., New York, NY 10001

This Chelsea café is a genuine part of its community, offering both exquisite coffee and a selection of beers for those really hard afternoons. The community feel is enhanced by the cozy counter seating, allowing you to effectively immerse yourself in the ambiance of the street while remaining “safe” behind the café’s glass wall. Pushcart offers a unique mini-hit of caffeine – an eight-ounce drip, for those merely dabbling in their out of office coffee experience.

Hi-Collar

214 E. 10th St., New York, NY 10003

If you are looking for a real challenge, Hi-Collar is ready to serve you a cup of coffee that meets some of the most exacting standards in the city. Glancing over the menu, you will find continual prompts to select your bean of choice for the brew in question – because at Hi-Collar, they understand the finite distinctions between regional selections and want you to appreciate them in all their distinct glory.

The Queens Kickshaw

40-17 Broadway, Astoria, NY 11103

Some days, the best office coffee is simply not enough. Those are the days The Queens Kickshaw (TQK) was built to conquer. TQK is a specialty coffee shop with a healthy side of gastro pub, which means there is something on the menu to scratch every itch your palate may have. Come for the mouthwatering grilled cheese, and linger with some of the best-served Counter Culture Coffee outside of North Carolina.

Joe

1045 Lexington Ave., New York, NY 10021

It is hard to make a list of NYC’s top out-of-office coffee experiences without including a nod to one of the city’s top roasters, Joe coffee. Joe’s Lexington café has a great low-key buzz to it, allowing you to soak in the ambiance while you wait for your synapses to start firing when the caffeine hits.

Kaffe 1668

275 Greenwich St., New York, NY 10007

There are two Kaffe 1668 sites, this Tribeca location is the original and we reckon the wall of faux sheep here makes it an inviting option for those thinking outside the box, where their typical notion of the best office coffee is served. Kaffe 1668 proudly roasts its own single-origin beans to perfection, has a friendly team of clever baristas working in a welcoming, creative space.

This is in no way an exhaustive list of good coffee spots across the sprawling, caffeinated wonderland that is New York City, but today, we hope it has brought a little extra sparkle to your mind’s eye.

If you are ready to learn more about how you can integrate some of the city’s best beans and brews into your break room, reach out for a consultation with one of the Corporate Essentials caffeine controllers – we are here to help, and happy to share our love of all things coffee with your team.
