The holiday season serves as a reminder to reflect on all of the things we have to be thankful for each year. In lieu of gifts this year, Corporate Essentials has chosen to make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on behalf of our customers. We deeply admire the work that they do to support children battling pediatric cancer and life-threatening diseases and their families. In this post, we will provide some more information on St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and what aided in our decision this holiday season.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

As a young man, entertainer Danny Thomas prayed to St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes, to help guide him in the right direction in life. He vowed to build a shrine in his name, and after achieving success, Danny officially opened St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 1962. Today, St. Jude works tirelessly to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.

Over the past half-decade, treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80%. They also share their discoveries freely with doctors and scientists worldwide to advance their mission to make sure there comes a day where no child dies from cancer.

It will cost approximately $1 billion to operate St. Jude this year, according to Charity Navigator. This is largely due to their unique positioning which ensures that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food. 75% of funds needed come from the generosity of St. Jude donors and Corporate Essentials is honored to help make an impact for these families this holiday season.

Charity Navigator gives St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital a four out of four-star rating with an overall score of 91.31 and 100.00 in accountability & transparency. This rating is exceptional, meaning the charity “exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its Cause.”

We would like to thank our customers for giving us the opportunity to provide St. Jude patients and their families more time, memories and joy.
