PureViaThis morning’s Personal Journal section of Wall Street Journal featured an interesting article titled “Bracing for the Fake Sugar Rush,” which spoke about mainly about the fact that Truvia is preparing more low calorie sweeteners to sweeten our coffee in the very near future.

The article also featured a breakdown on the most popular sugar substitutes with a brief breakdown of each, and when they came into the market (Truvia may want to add the WSJ’s finding that it “Smells like cupcake icing” to their next marketing campaign – it sold me).

The fact that Sweet’N Low has been around since the 1970’s and Equal since the 80’s was stunning to me. I honestly had no idea that these sugar substitutes had been around so long.
