To our friends in Manhattan, this may not be an introduction, as Amanda Cohen is the nationally acclaimed chef and owner of Dirt Candy on the Lower East Side. For those who don’t know, Cohen started and runs New York City’s first ever vegetable-focused restaurant and has asserted herself as a leader in this category.

Critics everywhere agree, naming Dirt Candy the “Absolute Best Restaurant on the Lower East Side” in 2018 by New York Magazine. Cohen’s restaurant has been recognized by the Michelin Guide for five years and was the first vegetarian restaurant in seventeen years to receive a two-star rating (a ‘very good’) from the New York Times.

Now let’s get to the food. Amanda Cohen is an expert at turning simple vegetable ingredients into delectable, transformed culinary delicacies. She explained to McCormick for Chefs that “food should be fun, vegetables should be fun, and going out to eat should be fun.” At Corporate Essentials, we know that eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring – which is why we’ve partnered with Amanda to create exciting dishes for our office catering service this July.

Cohen’s food incorporates everyday items that you can find at a local supermarket – for the everyday person. Try as we might, but it’s just not always feasible to pack a homemade lunch for work – and when it’s not it can get expensive to order out!

Office catering is a solution for employers looking to inspire employee productivity and fuel workplace culture with delicious lunch options – from the comfort of their break room. Chef Cohen is distinctively creative with her recipes using simple ingredients. Her creations are a foodie bucket list must for everyone’s taste buds and will surely keep them coming back for more.

As the first vegetarian chef to compete on Iron Chef America and a “Best Chef NYC” nominee for the 2018 James Beard Awards, Amanda Cohen is the real deal. Herbivores and carnivores alike will obsess over her seasonal creations. I mean, how could you turn down Korean Fried Broccoli or Jalapeño Hush Puppies? These are just a couple of menu items found at Dirt Candy, created by none other than Amanda Cohen. If these sound good, just you wait for what’s about to come next month.
